Onion Soup with Bone Broth Ingredients
Instructions
Firstly we should melt the butter in the cast iron pan. The reason why we prefer a cast iron pan is that the cast pan retains the heat for a long time. Thus, you can cook more delicious meals that need to be cooked slowly with less energy.
The next step is to chop the onions. We preferred finely chopping, but you can chop it according to your own preference. Without wasting time, add the chopped onions to the melted butter.
We wanted to use not only butter but also olive oil to fry the onions. The combination of the unique smell of butter and olive oil will increase the flavor of the onions and therefore your soup. The trick here is to cook the onions on medium heat for 20 minutes until the onions turn a light color.
Do you think onion soup can be without garlic? We don't think so. That's why we take the grater from the cupboard and we don't want big garlic pieces in our mouths. We grate the garlic. Then it's time to add vinegar, pomegranate syrup, thyme, bay leaves, salt and black pepper. Let's get to the most important part. Bone broth is preferred both to flavor soups and to increase their nutritional value. We add bone broth to our healing store soup. Reduce the bottom of the pot and cook for 45 minutes with the lid closed by stirring occasionally.
Perhaps the most important part that distinguishes onion soup from other soups is the way it is served. That's why we slice the baguettes and put them on the baking tray. Now it's time to flavor the bread! Add olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake in a preheated 190 °C / 375 °F oven until golden brown. When it is crispy enough, we take it out of the oven and spread the garlic on the slices of bread to add garlic flavor.
Add 400 ml hot water to brown onions and take out the thyme and bay leaves.
Now we grate the cheddar cheese for serving. Then we divide the soup into our cups with a ladle. To serve, we top with toasted bread slices and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
Bake in the preheated 190 degree oven until golden brown.
Now let's check the layers of our soup. Melted cheddar cheese on the top, crispy slices of bread in the middle, and then we reach the onion soup, which is soft and flavored with excellent aromas. Let's try a spoon right away. Our aromatic, healthy and hearty soup is so tasty!
